This years Vintage by the Sea after party brings Britain’s distinctive dance culture and dj history to the fore, paying respect to our rich club culture and the djs that shaped it. Dave Haslam DJ-ed over 450 times at the Hacienda, including the last ever night its doors opened to the public; June 28th 1997. A welcome return to Vintage by the Sea Festival, he describes his eclectic dancefloor-filling philosophy as “playing the best records ever made one after the other”. Vintage by the Sea's, ‘Little Big-Top', in the shadow of the Midland Hotel, takes Morecambe into the small hours with a musical journey warming up with funk, soul, disco to a crescendo of classic & acid house. Inspired by the vintage decades, fabulous workshops await all you crafty sorts. Showcasing the best in up-cycling and retro-cool, workshoppers this year will transform discarded plastic from the beach, or teach you how to use a traditional craft like leatherworking. Suitable for adults and kids, sessions run from 11 till 2.pm and then reconvene from 3.30 till 5:30pm. The red and white striped Little Big Top is a fabulous setting for this pop up maker-space on the prom! Best of all ....most of our workshops will be totally free to try! Come and hip hop bop with Murphy & Mills! in a Vintage by the Sea collaboration. A musical education for your little ones, as you dance to a selection of the finest old school hip-hop classics and learn a spot of break-dancing in this hour and half daytime special (from 2pm till 3.30pm each day.) You can catch Murphy and Mills all day in the Festival Big Top with art sessions and installations that explore the rich layers that make up hip hop's visual culture, with graffiti artists and painters from across the Northwest.
