Vintage Festival - Boughton House, Northamptonshire
"The English Versailles" Boughton House which nestles in a beautiful corner of Northamptonshire is said to be one of the great houses of Europe and we're thrilled to announce it's the new home to the Vintage Festival in 2012.
An event like Vintage which celebrates design, glamour and the Best of British deserves a location to match and in the breath-taking Boughton House Estate we have found the perfect home. This is the first time Boughton House has been used for an event of this kind and we can say with total confidence that we have discovered the best festival site in the UK. It’s a truly stunning Tudor manor house and a flagship of our wonderful British heritage for Vintage 2012.
BOUGHTON HOUSE
This remarkable house is a blend of the intimate and the grand, with its village like Tudor period courtyards fronted by the palatial Versailles style additions made by the first Duke of Montagu in the 1690s. The spirit of a family home goes hand in hand with the magnificent formality of the Great Hall, virtually untouched in 300 years.
The house sits at the heart of a landscape of rare beauty surrounded by picturesque villages. The majestic 2000 acres of grade 1 listed parkland, manicured grounds, immaculately edged canals and woodland walks is the expansive heart of the estate framed with historic avenues of lime trees and carefully tended lawns which evolve out into stewarded grazing land.
Closer to the house, the 17thC design features are currently being restored, recreated and reacquainted with the park's originally planned architectural grandeur. Landscapes and waterscapes have been carefully contained with linear features and striking angular characteristics which are demonstrated with the recent Dead Reach and Mount projects.
Situated in the heart of middle England, Broughton House is just 1 hours travel from London and Manchester and within an hour from Birmingham, Nottingham and Cambridge. In fact, The Vintage Festival at Broughton House is within 2 hours for 80 per cent of the population.
