Music Fashion Film Art Design Food

Whether your thing is swing, rockabilly, mod, soul, funk, disco, ska, film, art or design, or if you just want to dress up and get an authentic make-over for a day, Vintage Festival is a sensual delight, a big dressing-up box, a collector’s dream and a joyous creative feast for all ages. For one glamorous weekend we celebrate the music, fashion, film, art & design , food and dance from the 1920s to the 1980s that has made Britain the world’s creative and cultural hot bed.

The glorious grounds of Boughton House provide the backdrop and will transform into a multi-venue playground where, over 3 days, pass holders can ‘learn the dances’, take in specially curated live performances, exclusive DJ sets, catwalk shows, brilliantly conceived food and cocktails, or take advantage of the decade specific hair and beauty makeovers and all the wonderful vintage shopping on offer. Join us for Britain’s best looking and most uplifting long weekend of the festival season.

We've just announced our first musical artists for Vintage Festival 2012 but this isn’t merely a music festival - we passionately believe that art and design, music and fashion should never be seperated.

Vintage Flyer

“A festival appealing to everyone from the casual vintage admirer to the hardcore devotee."
Dazed & Confused

"An offbeat, cultural haven... If you’re looking for something a little different to the festival norm, take a look at the most stylish from this truly unique event.”
Elle

“A gaudy but unselfconscious celebration of 20th century popular culture.”
The Guardian

“Loved the atmosphere, the amazing attention to detail, the music, the fashions....everything was so inspiring. Our new favourite festival”
The Independent

“Seeing a younger generation engaging, perhaps for the first time, in something usually reserved for generations past is a perfect symbol of what the Vintage Festival represents. There's none of the sniggering irony which sometimes taints 'retro' events: everybody is fully appreciative of timeless style – whether they were there the first time round or not. To me this is the point the Vintage Festival succeeds in making: great style deserves not to be confined to the past.”

The Story So Far

In 2007 Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and the HemingwayDesign team developed a concept of a festival that celebrated the history and influence of British creativity.

The Vintage Festival launched in August 2010 on the Sussex Downs. Over 50,000 people came to party, the majority ‘dressed to the nines’. Vintage 2010 dominated the media coverage of summer events and dominated the nominations at the 2010 Festival Awards, walking away with the Best New Festival category.

In 2011 Vintage moved to Southbank to coincide with the Festival of Britain celebrations, over 200,000 people a day enjoyed the celebrations.

A Winning Team

All aspects of the Vintage Festival are curated by a team containing the most experienced, knowledgeable and respected figures within the music, design, film, fashion and entertainment industries. The Vintage curatorial team including The Hemingways, Greg Wilson, Snowboy and Eddie Piller bring an unparalleled authenticity and attention to detail to the Vintage experience.
